'Fantasma' comes from the spanish word meaning 'ghost'. She used to be a polo pony and she was very small and very pale, so everyone thought she was a ghost. She was a brilliant polo pony, worth millions, till one day she was in a horrible accident and the polo stick got caught in her legs and her rider was almost killed and she was too spooked to ever let anyone with a polo stick get on her back again. She went through lots of re-training, but she would never let anyone get on her back with a stick again. But, she was perfect in every other way and we bought her as a retired polo pony after hearing her history and started using her in all sorts of games and events.
Fantasma is the best games pony on the yard. All her polo training has made her quick on her feet and able to turn very tightly and fast. She throws her heart into games and gives it all she has got. She does all the games perfectly (except for the flag race) but her speciality is the bending and she doesn't need a rider, you just have to sit there and she's galloped round first. She's done everything and has even qualified for the Prince Phillip Pony Club Mounted Games Finals she's so nimble and experienced at mounted games. Fantasma takes everything in her stride at home. Used to travelling on very long journeys cramped with other horses she really must feel like she's retired now. She still loves showing and any form of excitement pleases her as she is very curious. She (like many other ponies) loves to be the centre of attention especially if there's something exciting to go with it and she loves the pre-show excitement and fuss almost as much as the actual shows. |
